Project objective
The main goal of the project is to identify key regulators mediating integration of environmental, hormonal and stress-related signalling pathways with epigenetic regulations and assessing their role as potential targets in the generation of stress-tolerant plants. The project aims to describe the key signalling and/or regulatory components in Arabidopsis and selected crops and explore their genetic variability. The information will be used for the targeted improvement of Brassica sp. and potato with ultimate goal to generate crops with higher survival and yield under (particularly drought) stress conditions.

Project Partners
Photon Systems Instruments, Ltd. (PSI) is the world leader in the development and manufacturing of instrumentation for imaging and monitoring of biological signals in plants and algae. PSI Ltd. was the first company to offer a chlorophyll fluorescence imaging system, and remains at the forefront of technology for monitoring growth and physiological activity in samples that range from individual cells to large crop and tree species.
The Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (UIACH) is focused on research and development of new analytical methods for use in a wide range of fields, from environmental monitoring to medical applications. The current activities of the department focus on the separation and analysis of ionic components of samples - nucleic acids, proteins, small bioactive molecules and drugs and their complexes.
